Advocacy Battling Cancer by Diet & Exercise
November 18, 2009   1:00pm - 3:00pm   at the Activity Center, Cancer Institute

This month's journal club for Cervical Cancer survivors was entitled Advocacy Battling Cancer by Diet and Exercise which aims to educate survivors and their families on the values and importance of having a well balanced lifestyle by exercise and good eating habits. Speakers for the event are Mrs. Rency Joy Caga-anan, Senior Nutritionist of Fitness First and Ms. Emelita O. Lavilla, a Nutritionist Dietician V from the Dietary Department of the Philippine General Hospital.

Professor Josephine dela Cruz, president of the cervical cancer support group led the prayer. This was followed by the welcome remarks of Dr. Paul Pinlac, CIF Coordinator. Ms. Caga-anan provided a short contest for the participants with prices courtesy of Fitness First while a healthy merienda of tofu croquette, enseladang pinoy and malunggay juice was provided by Ms. Lavilla and the Dietary department. Awarding of token and certificates to the guest speakers was headed by Cancer Institute Director and CECAP chair, Dr. Llave.

Master of Ceromonies for the event was Dr. Chelo Capulong who also coordinated the event along with Mr. Jimmy Sison, RN from CIF.
